HOW TO GET AND STAY MOTIVATED AT THE GYM
Struggling to find your exercise mojo? Here’s some tips to help you get motivated and moving.
- Exercise For A Purpose.
If you are finding it hard to exercise, find a purpose, set a goal. Think of something that interests you, excites you, and challenges you. Once you start to see and feel the changes from the inside out, nothing will stop you. The best thing about exercise is there’s something for everyone. You could try training for a fun run, a mini triathlon or an adventure race like Tough Mudder or Spartan. When you commit to something or someone it makes it a lot easier to ‘show up’ and get it done.
- Do Something You Enjoy
Exercise doesn’t have to be difficult or hard. It’s not necessary to go out every session and push yourself to breaking point. Find something that you enjoy, something that you look forward to, knowing that you will feel amazing afterwards. The best thing about endorphins, is that it doesn’t matter what shape you’re in – you can still get them! There are so many ways to exercise. You don’t have to be in a gym.
Do you like to work out alone or in a group, indoors or outdoors? Do you prefer a team sport environment? Do you like to dance? Do something that excites you!
- Focus On The Positives
There are so many incredible benefits from exercising that encompass our whole wellbeing, mental, spiritual and physical. Rather than focusing on what’s hard, start with a positive mindset, knowing you will feel so much better at the end of your session. We have never experienced anyone saying that they regretted the workout they just completed. Yes, it can be tough sometimes but once you start you will be so glad that you did – guaranteed!
- Don’t Do Too Much Too Soon.
When you’re starting out on a health and fitness journey it is important to build a strong foundation of strength and fitness. This does not occur overnight. It happens by a consistent effort over a period of time. Too often people try and do too much too soon and cannot sustain the intensity, and then think it’s all too hard and they give up. Make a realistic plan when you begin (check out our SMARTER GOALS Blog) with the mindset of it being a part of your lifestyle long term.
- Be Consistent.
Consistency is key when you want to achieve anything in your life. It is the same with your health and fitness, what you put into your body you will get out of it. If you’re right at the very beginning of your journey, we suggest you create a realistic plan, surround yourself with a tribe who believe in you and want the best for you. Ask for help. Understand that you will have tough days, it’s all a part of the journey. Be consistent and most importantly – Never Give Up.
It’s absolutely worth it!
Taking control of your health and fitness has the power to transform your life.
