Going to the gym can be an intimidating experience for many people. The fear is real but
we want to reassure you that the gym can be a friendly, rewarding, endorphin-releasing experience that will have you coming back for more!
Firstly, understand that people are not looking and judging you. Most people are looking at themselves and their own technique. The gym is not full of ‘stuck up people’ as some might think.
Here are some tips that can help ease your way into your gym experience:
▪️If possible go in non-peak times, this will allow you to try most of the equipment and get comfortable with your surroundings.
▪️Get yourself a Coach. Learn how to lift properly, reduce the risk of injury, save time, and fast track your results. Having a personalised program will keep you accountable and feeling totally confident with what to do.
▪️Try different classes. A great starting point if you don’t have a program and you’re unsure how to plan your workout. However, investing in a coach (even if it’s just initially) is totally worth it (see above)
▪️Train with a friend. Especially if you have a friend who knows their way around. Confidence in numbers.
The gym really is an incredible uplifting release from the crazy outside world.
